What We DoFCRA Education. FCRA is an educational entity for the development of its members and the reporting profession. FCRA promotes the profession by acting as a liaison between FCRA and the Florida Supreme Court, Florida Legislature, Office of the State Court Administrator, Judicial Council, Florida Bar Association, other state associations and judicial groups, court reporting schools, and the public. FCRA Headquarters. The FCRA office maintains a full-time professional staff that administers the affairs of FCRA, including data-gathering, dissemination of information regarding the industry’s direction and operation, and daily availability to respond to member inquiries. FCRA Annual Convention. A major event in the Association’s activities, the Annual Convention provides a variety of educational opportunities through NCRA-approved seminars and workshops, a host of relaxing social functions, as well as the general business session and election of officers. FCRA Board of Directors. The 11-member Board of Directors includes five officers, five directors, and the Immediate Past President. They meet multiple times a year to conduct the regular business affairs of the Association. Meetings are open to the general membership. Legislative Representation in Tallahassee. FCRA’s lobbyist monitors state laws and regulations to keep members informed regarding current legislation affecting the reporting profession, as well as educates legislators on court reporting issues. Membership in FCRA supports the court reporting profession statewide. Florida Professional Reporter™. FCRA educates members on federal and state laws, rules, procedures, professional ethics, and administers the FPR™ exam. (The Florida Professional Reporter and FPR designations are trademarks of the Florida Court Reporters Association.) The Florida Reporter. FCRA publishes The Florida Reporter e-magazine, keeping members up to date on all aspects of the court reporting profession. |
